Black-tie dinners aren’t our usual thing, but sometimes an awesome occasion deserves a bit of sartorial effort. The 60th Anniversary of Ringwood 41 Club at the Connaught Hotel is exactly such as occasion.
Earlier this week our Chairman Charlie, along with last years Chair Francis & Phil our president joined members of Ringwood 41 Club to mark their 60th anniversary since their founding in 1964. Ringwood 41 Club was formed by our first chairman Jimmy Gordon, as a way of continuing the friendship that members of Round Table found when they reached the age that they officially had to leave our organisation.
In a night of fun, laughter & nostalgia, Charlie, Francis & Phil were regaled with tales of good deeds, good nights & fond memories from the incredible members of Ringwood Ex-Tablers of their time within Round Table, and were immensely proud of how we’re carrying on their legacy to this day. Inspired by the passionate words of the National President of the 41 Club organisation organisation about his chosen charity for the year, the team also agreed to make a donation of £200 to My Name is Doddie, a charity founded by rugby international Doddie Wier to continue his personal fight against Motor Neurone Disease – a horrible disease which impacts so many people in our community & around the world.
It’s great to see the joy that the illustrious 41 Club members still find in each others company, for some almost 40 years since they left Round Table, and it makes us proud to follow in their footsteps of friendship, fun & doing more in our community
